  1. Ernesto Guevara was willing to put aside what was known to him to experience the unknown with his friend Granado. These were two very intelligent men, but with two very different personalities! Ernesto experienced many different situations that all helped shape his personality as a future leader, but I believe his shining moment came during the dance in San Pablo after they had celebrated his birthday and he gave his speech.

Ernesto was very determined ,this helped to shape his personality as well. During their trip form Buenos Aires to Chile there were many obstacles that came his way; such as, a very beat up motorocycle that eventually was no more, snow, blown away tents, hunger, and pure exhaustion, however, he and Granado had made a pact to complete this trip and no matter what they were going to make it.

Another good trait that Ernesto had was his truthfulness. He was not able to tell a lie even if it would benefit him or their situation. The man with the tumor on his neck was just one example. Another example was the book written by Dr. Pesce,Ernesto was not able to tell him it was wonderful like Granado had done.

Ernesto's compassion toward the poor and the sick also led one to see how he could be a future leader. He demonstrated this trait numerous ways throughout the movie, but the main scenes that show this are the scene with the couple who have lost their house due to their political views and he gives them his personal belongings and the money that he had gotten from Chichina, even though him and Granado could have used it. Another scene was where he was talking the young girl and convinced her to have surgery and then he stayed with her.

Ernesto showed dedication and enthusiasm while caring for the patients at the leprosy hosptial as well. He also helped people to build houses and got everyone playing soccer together. He adopted their culture by sitting around and playing bongos with them.

The speech that Ernesto gave at the dance on his birthday showed how he really felt when he said Everything unites us, nothing divides us." Ernest meant that and said it even though that had not been the motto they lived by on the island. When Ernesto swam across the water despite the wild animals and asthma attack he was living by those words and going to be with the people he cared most about.

Ernesto had many personality traits such as truthfulness, compassion, sincerity, intelligence
and dedicaton. These all led him to make the impact on people that he made in the film and led him on to decide that he wanted to make more of an impact on the people of Latin America and decided to be a leader in the revoluton of Latin America and not complete his schooling.
